Learning Resource Centre
Carnforth School Library offers our students a modern, smart environment to enjoy and access resources in a number of formats and become effective users of information.
There is a good community spirit in our library, the comfortable new seating and modern surroundings are well used and appreciated by our pupils. The Library offers a quiet study space, a social learning environment and access to ICT.

Accelerated Reader is a computerised reading scheme which helps monitor your child’s progress in reading. Unlike other reading systems, AR allows students to select their own books from their level, read independently and complete the quizzes in their own time when they have finished; it gives them ownership over their reading. At the same time it provides feedback for teachers to target those who specifically need help. It can even be used by parents to monitor their child’s reading and search for books on the scheme. It is the world’s most widely used reading software and another one of the world class facilities we have at Carnforth High School.
The Book Depository
To help keep the library stocked with fresh and exciting titles, we’re asking students to donate any books which they have finished with to the library. We all have books which we love and want to cherish forever, but there are some books which once they have been read could be put to better use; like the Book Depository. We’re asking for donations of novels which are under five years old and are in generally good condition. Any books donated which are not needed by the library will be put either on a swap shelf to redistribute to students or passed on to charity.
