Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Physical education helps students develop personally and socially. They work as individuals, in groups and in teams, developing concepts of fairness and of personal and social responsibility. They take on different roles and responsibilities, including leadership, coaching and officiating. Through the range of experiences that physical education offers, they learn how to be effective in competitive, creative and challneging situations.  

Year 7

In year 7 pupils will complete two 50 minute lessons per week.

Outdoor physical education includes Rugby, Football, Cross Country and Athletics for the boys and Hockey, Netball, Cross Country and Athletics for the girls although either gender can access these sports in extra curricular activities.

Indoor physical education is taught in mixed gender classes and includes Gymnastics, Badminton, Cricket, Rounders and Swimming.

Fitness tests are also included throughout the year.

 

 

Year 8

In year 9 the pupils will complete two 50 minute lessons per week and are taught in single gender groups.

Rugby, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Fitness, Cricket, Rounders and Athletics are studied by boys and Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Netball, Aerobics, Cross Country, Volleyball, Rounders and Athletics are studied by the girls.
