Key Stage 3 Overview
We ensure that all our pupils study a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum by offering all the National Curriculum subjects during a three year KS3 programme. We have high expectations of our pupils and their learning is placed at the heart of school life.
We operate a 2-week, 50 hour timetable (5 lessons per day) which allows us to offer a wide range of subjects.
The emphasis of the KS3 curriculum is knowledge across a range of subjects. The core subjects (English, Maths & Science) and the Foundation subjects (Art & Design, Citizenship (Life), Computing, Design & Technology, languages, Geography, History, Music, PE. RSE is taught as part of Life and RE is a stand-alone subject.
During Year 9 pupils will choose the subjects they wish to study during Key Stage 4. Drama, Enterprise, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Media, and Music are all taught as part of an Arts & Vocational carousel (one half-term per subject).

Please note that we are currently in a transitional curriculum phase, due to the recent conversion from a two-year to a three-year KS3 from September 2021, and the bridging work this requires.
